Maximum Capacity: 390
Accommodates up to 390 in lecture theatre style
The Esther Simpson Building is a stunning new flagship development on campus and part of the Leeds University Business School and School of Law portfolio.
The building has two state-of-the-art lecture theatres – a 240-seat Harvard-style lecture theatre and a 390-seat traditional lecture theatre. The Harvard-style lecture theatre provides good vision for all users, and each seat will turn 180 degrees to allow for easier collaboration. Both lecture theatres are designed with plenty of space between the seats, have individual power supplies, and are decorated to promote concentration. It’s also home to multiple break out rooms, collaborative and inclusive learning spaces and a catering space perfect for refreshment and lunch breaks.
The building is a fitting tribute to the woman it was named after. Esther Simpson was a Leeds graduate who spent nearly all her working life helping resettle scholars who fled from totalitarian regimes across the world.

It was a privilege to be able to deliver my inaugural lecture in the newly opened Esther Simpson building. The state of the art facilities in this modern classy building, as well as the tasteful interior design, created the perfect ambiance for the occasion. Added to that, the support received from the Conference and Catering team contributed greatly to a smooth and organisation and resulted in a very successful event!
