This week In the Hotseat we’re talking to Lisa Wood, who has been a Sales Executive at MEETinLEEDS for the last 8 years. Lisa has been working at the University of Leeds for nearly 30 years in a variety of different roles, ranging from managing Halls of Residence to managing coffee bars and catering teams!
What excites you about the future of the events industry?
There will always be a need for events, and in the last 18 months we have all adapted to online options and learned how they can be an additional resource in the industry. I think delegates do also value meeting in person and taking part in the social elements of events. Speaking from experience, catching up with colleagues in a informal setting following long days of seminars is a great way to further enhance your sector’s knowledge and to learn industry trends.
What do you think will be the most important skills in the future of the events industry?
I think moving forward we will need a combination of the latest AV equipment and the skills to operate it, as many events become more blended in their approach. Having strong customer service skills is also vital. Going the extra mile with your client and forging relationships that lead to repeat business has always been an area that I have cared about and I believe this is still the way forward.
What skills have you gained in the last year that you think will help you moving forward in events?
What would be your dream event to work on?
