Continuing our new series In the Hotseat, we’re talking to Emma Gough who has been working at Cloth Hall Court for nearly 8 years. Emma joined the MEETinLEEDS Team early in 2020 and in her time with us she has done an amazing job helping to support the University and Cloth Hall Court.
What excites you about the future of the events industry?
Everything! I’m excited to see people getting back together, re-connecting and making new connections. I’m excited to see the types of conferences that our clients will bring to us and we look forward to welcoming our previous clients back.
What do you think will be the most important skills in the future of the events industry?
Flexibility and having a dynamic approach to situations. Luckily, I believe most people who work in events know how to be proactive but no one could have predicted 2020. We have seen people who normally work in conferences/events putting their hands to all kinds of different jobs to keep their companies going. Therefore, a flexible approach to work will be a key skill I think employers will look for in the immediate future.
What skills have you gained in the last year that you think will help you moving forward in events?
I’m not sure if it will help but for the past year, I have been learning French & German. Maybe one day when international conferences are back, I can put my new skills to the test!
What would be your dream event to work on?
CMA! That’s the Country Music Awards, I am a massive country music fan and I think I could die happy if I got an opportunity to work there! I’m flexible, I would be happy to work on any small part of it.
