The best bits from 2018
As the year draws to a close, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year, as we take a look back at the highlights from 2018.
First of all, we hope you have an amazing time over the festive break!
We are away from Friday 21 December until Wednesday 2nd January 2019, but if you have any questions or enquiries simply drop us a message and we will get back to you in the New Year.
To get in the festive spirit check out the advent calendar full of sustainable tips we have put together in partnership with the University’s Sustainability team!
The university has pledged to phase out single-use plastic from the whole university in five years, and here at MEETinLEEDS we are committed to becoming single-use plastic-free by 2020. Check out our tips and do your bit too!
Anyway, let’s get back to what happened in 2018…
What an incredible year it has been too! It began with the University of Leeds moving into the top 10 of the Guardian University Guide for the first time, hitting 3rd place in the Times Higher Education Survey, tasted success with the arrival of the Food Colloids Conference, and a city-wide celebration of digital culture in the form of the Leeds Digital Festival.
Summer brought a record breaking International Medieval Congress(IMC), a plethora of pianos for the Leeds International Piano Competition, and a whole host of other events in a jam-packed conference season!
After the excitement of the summer, we had a quick sit down to think about how you, our customers and colleagues, have been instrumental in helping us constantly improve our service. We picked our 10 favourites and compiled them in this blog, so please have a read about how you made us even better!
To top the year off we won an Academic Venue Award for ‘Best Accessibility’, along with a Conference Award for ‘Best Collaboration’ with the amazing Communication Matters. We were shortlisted for a Meeting Industry Association award too, along with the IMC team, but unfortunately you can’t win them all!
We can’t wait to see what 2019 brings and hope you had an excellent 2018 too!
